Abstract

In this issue, Amanat and colleagues reviewed the pharmacogenomics of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in oesophageal carcinoma chemotherapy, Khan and colleagues investigated predominant genotypes and viral load of HIV and HCV in Karachi, Pakistan, Waseem, and colleagues used a hybrid approach of molecular docking studies and virtual screening to test compounds from ‘Zinc database library’ that may be effective against Alzheimer’s disease, Zubair and colleagues investigated the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (rs1544410 G>A) of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene with postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis in a Pakistani cohort, and Naudhani, and colleagues reported two Pakistani families with symptoms of diabetes, hyperphagia, seizures, and obesity, and containing interesting genetic polymorphisms.
