About three billion tons of grains are produced per annum and at various levels of the grain distribution chain are stored indefinite units like shoppers, silos, warehouses, containers, and even in piles on the ground. Throughout the world, about 20 percent of stored grains are damaged due to insect pests annually. The current study was designed to find the biodiversity of stored grain pests and to evaluate the loss estimation of stored grains caused by insect pests in this region. The study was categorized into ten localities namely, Banjosa, Chotagala, Ali Sojal, Khaigala, Chak, Rawalakot, Supply Bazar, Shujjabad, Tain, and Paniola. Samples of stored grains with their insect pests were collected from each location and were brought to the laboratory. Insect pests were separated from grain samples, preserved in glass tubes, and identified with the help of available literature. Quantitative data was analyzed by an independent sample T-test and one-way analysis of variance. Statistics, SPSS and past software were used for different analyses. The present study was done to explore the insect pest fauna of stored grain products of Rawalakot and also conclude the loss of stored grain in this region. The result indicates five insect pest species were reported from Banjosa and Ali Sojal. Four species of insect pest were reported from Rawalakot, Chota gala, Khaigal, Chak, Shujjabad, Paniola and Tain. While only 3 species were found from Supply bazar. The percentage loss results from different grains at Banjosa, Chak and Rawalakot shows maximum amount of damage in maize. While maximum percentage loss damage recorded from different grains at localities Ali Sojal, Khaigala, Supply bazar, Shujjabad, Tain and Paniola was in red kidney beans and at Chota gala maximum percentage damage was recorded in wheat. On average maximum percentage damage was recorded in red kidney beans followed by maize and wheat district Rawalakot.
