Editorial Policy

Food Economy aims to publish authoritative empirical research, theoretical analyses, and conceptual contributions that advance knowledge in food systems, agribusiness, food security, food economics, management, marketing, trade, and sustainable development.

Material submitted to Food Economy must be original and must not be published or submitted for publication elsewhere. This policy applies to manuscripts under consideration by the journal.

Food Economy does not require authors to transfer copyright of their published research articles to the journal. Authors publishing with Food Economy retain the copyright to their work, allowing articles to be re-used and redistributed without restriction, provided the original work is properly cited. Responsibility for the content, authenticity, and originality of published work rests solely with the authors.

Food Economy supports the Bethesda Statement on Open Access Publishing.

Articles are published under the CC-BY license (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License). This license permits unrestricted sharing, distribution, adaptation, and commercial use of published material, provided appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.

Manuscripts submitted to Food Economy are peer reviewed by at least two subject experts. The decision of the editorial board regarding the selection of reviewers and publication of manuscripts shall be final.

Food Economy shall be published three times a year. As an online journal, articles of urgent relevance and current importance may also be published as special articles, editorials, or supplementary issues based on the recommendations of the editorial board.

Food Economy shall not be responsible for the views, opinions, or statements expressed in published articles. Such responsibility rests entirely with the author(s), and the journal may not necessarily agree with the opinions expressed therein.
